I applaud your extraordinary courage in thinking the unthinkable and speaking the unspeakable relative to the futility of the war in Afghanistan. Many have left the GOP because of its viral neocon commitment to endless and murderous foreign interventions. I no longer vote Republican but 3rd party.

History teaches us that it was the progressives and the Democrats who were addicted to wars of empire. Democrat Woodrow Wilson got us into WW I, Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt got us into WW II, Democrat Harry Truman got us into the Korean War, Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson got us into the Vietnam War and Democrat Bill Clinton got us into the Balkan Wars. According to abmc.gov, 35,473 Americans are dead/missing from WW I, 405,399 Americans are dead from WW II, 54,246 Americans are dead from the Korean War and 58,178 Americans are dead from the Vietnam War. That’s a grand total of 553,296 dead Americans from Democratic wars.

At a trillion bucks a year, our insane foreign policy has bankrupted the nation, destroyed our economy, assaulted our civil liberties, trashed the Constitution and has churned a once peaceful and prosperous Pax Americana into Pox Americana. It’s definitely time to focus the foreign policy debate on legitimate national defense needs vs. non-stop interventionism. The American people are sick to death of the wars and it’s time for the Republican Party to get back to its historical roots of peace by following the foreign policy advice of our founders and rejecting war unless constitutionally declared by Congress.

I would hope that you grow even more courageous and condemn all of our interventions and wars as offensive to our Constitution, inconsistent with the principles of liberty and morally repugnant. America is desperate for political leadership that will restore Pax Americana, Liberty and Prosperity. It’s July 4th and our founders who declared “we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor” must be rolling over in their graves at the horrors inflicted upon a once free and prospering people by ignoble men and women with no honor and who mockingly spat upon all that was sacrificed to create the greatest free nation in all of human existence.

More and more Americans today are awakening to realize that we have major problems in this country that need to be addressed. Never before in our history, at least not since the day first “Hundred Days” of Franklin D. Roosevelt, have we seen such a rush to pass heavily socialist and of course un-constitutional legislation, as Barack Obama. FDR’s first “Hundred Days” in 1933, was filled with legislation promoting Public Works, Home-Owners Loans, Federal Emergency Relief, Emergency Banking Acts, Civilian Conservation Corps, and abandoning the Gold Standard for fiat (paper) money. It looks like Obama is doing a re-run of 1933-1938 with similar type bills, only worse this time.

Many history books will claim that Roosevelt saved America from collapse. In reality, what he did was to change the character of the nation from one of mostly self-reliance, to one of believing in government as the solution. Government was not the solution then, and it is not the solution now. FDR was wrong as is Obama, who is working to finish off what is left of our Republic. Government is always the problem. That is why our Founders wanted it bound with the chains of the Constitution.

It is time for the American people to open their mind to freedom and make it important in their life. This new tool is, in effect, a “Declaration of Resistance” to anyone who would try to enslave or deprive us of our God given freedom.

It is becoming increasingly clear that this oil disaster was tailor-made for Obama and the bankers who want cap and tax and climate legislation. Look at BP - for a while they have been touting how "green" and environmentally sound they are. And then look at all the campaign contributions they made to Obama. Everything points to this being a deliberate disaster. 11 people are already dead and countless marine life is gone. Jobs are evaporating. People along the Gulf coast are becoming increasingly desperate. Obama could care less. Tony "the Yachtsman" Hayward could care less.

This past year, the federal government has marched further and faster than ever toward control of the economy and our everyday lives. This would dismay our Founding Fathers, whose vision of a carefully limited federal government animated the Constitution.

The most explicit statement of limited government in the U.S. Constitution is the Tenth Amendment: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Thus, any power that the Constitution does not affirmatively give the federal government, it does not have.

The Tenth Amendment embodied a revolutionary concept. Written just a few years after we had won our independence from Britain, the Constitution fundamentally changed the relationship between people and government.

For millennia, the source of power and authority had always been kings and government, and rights were seen as gifts by grace from the Monarch. The Constitution inverted that understanding, with sovereignty beginning in the American people – beginning with We the People – and power given to government only to a limited degree.

Indeed, that was the genius of the Constitution – limiting government to protect the liberty of the people. Because the Framers recognized that unchecked government can strip the people of their freedoms, they designed a constitution to prevent that from happening.

As James Madison, the Constitution’s primary author, explained:

“If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”

Because men are not angels, the Constitution was designed to create an effective national government while preventing the government from overreaching.

Thus, the Constitution “split the atom of sovereignty,” as the Supreme Court has put it, separating governmental power between the legislature, the executive, and the judiciary, and between the federal government and the 50 states. History had taught the Framers that those in government almost always try to get more power, and the magic of dividing governmental power into many separate parts is that each part fights hard against the others to prevent them from expanding their power. As a result, government power overall is limited and our freedom is protected.

Keeping as much governmental power at the state and local level yields two additional benefits: it makes government more accountable – it is much easier to express your views to your local city councilmember than it is to the U.S. Treasury Secretary – and it allows the states to adopt differing policies reflecting their distinct views. Thus, the states can be laboratories of democracy, reflecting the values and priorities of their individual citizens.

No one would expect California, Texas, New York, and Massachusetts to adopt the identical policies – the views of their citizens are considerably different. And the people can vote with their feet, as reflected in the fact that more than 1,000 people move to Texas every day, no doubt seeking a more hospitable economic climate.

We would not presume to impose the values of Texans on the citizens of Massachusetts. Yet when the federal government forces a single policy on the entire nation, the result is that everyone must live under a one-size-fits-all national plan. Once centralized in Washington, that national program inevitably grows and grows, far removed from citizen control.

That is why we are working with the Texas Public Policy Foundation to establish the Center for Tenth Amendment Studies. Through research, education, and outreach, we intend to build a bulwark for restoring the balance between federal power, the states, and the American people.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans at Tea Parties across the nation are re-reading the Constitution and showing a profound interest in the Tenth Amendment – and with good reason. If the Tenth Amendment is respected – if the Constitution’s limits on the federal government are given force – then government power will be restrained. Governmental leaders will be accountable. And our liberty will be preserved.

The Honorable Ted Cruz and The Honorable Scott Brister are Senior Fellows at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a non-profit, free-market research institute based in Austin, Texas. Cruz is Texas’ former Solicitor General and has personally presented the most oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court of any attorney in Texas. Brister served six years as a Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, during which time he authored 122 opinions for the Court.

Kitty Kallen did a hit musical vocal piece back in the 50’s entitled Little Things Mean A Lot. It was one of my favorites, as I liked the lyrical allusions to those little things, like throwing me a kiss from across the room. Back in those, my teenage years, having a gal, I might have my eye on, throw me a kiss from anywhere was not considered a little thing by yours truly.

But the point for today, though I’d like to go the romantic route, will be to point up the import of doing the little things in our attempt to regain our country. Actually, in long-ago times, things like fighting the fight to attain or keep something valuable was considered romantic, even putting on the military uniform of your partisans; especially this latter thing.

So what are some little things we might consider today, Simmons? Well, let me think. Oh yeah, we’ve needed a good, responsive state senator representing our district for a long, long time now; even one who would understand (and even be a part of) the current Tea Party movement sweeping so much of the USA, especially the “Red” portions, of which Texas is a big part.

So?

Kip Averitt sort of stepped down from being senator due to, what was it, health issues? But he (or some entity or entities) did not remove his name from the election ballot supposedly designed for to replace him…and he won! Make sense? Of course not.

Then a special election was called to see who we really wanted as our senator (place a smiley face here). Anyway, this election ended up pitting three Republicans and one Democrat against each other. Make better sense now? No!

Two of the Republicans, Sibley and Birdwell, now find themselves in a special runoff election to see who will serve from when those results are finalized until the November Election.

The special runoff election is scheduled for June 22, with early voting days being June 14 thru 18. Waxahachie’s 106 S. Monroe is where you can go to early vote, with offices hours being 7:00 AM til 5:00 PM on the 14th thru 16th, and 7:00 AM til 7:00 PM on the 17th and 18th.

Then on Tuesday, June 22, regular Election Day, polls will be located as follows for the associated election precincts:

Just a brief perusal of all these voting locations demonstrates the importance this election has generated, in some circles, at least.

This kind of election, if history is a clear indicator, does not generate much voter participation.

Nevertheless, fellow patriot and concerned citizen, though oft thought of as one of the  little things in voters’ minds, this Special Runoff Election is important! Get you up to either the Early or Special Election Day opportunities and vote.

It might be noted most of Sibley’s lobbyist clients are excited about sending one of their own lobbyists to the Texas Senate, with 31 big contributors giving Sibley $230, 972, half of his total war chest contributions, this (unbelievably) per an Austin liberal- leaning Texans for Public Justice; follow the money.

Little things mean a lot. Vote in this’n.

Audrey M. Rucker grew up down the street from me in Ovilla, but I had no idea who she was and vice versa. Come to find out, we were both Messianic. This Hebraic roots movement is taking over every town, county, city, state and nation in the world right now...it's better that we have the Internet to destroy the archaic methods of finding out the truth...because the Internet has blazed past what Churchianity is having a hard time doing: giving people the answers to "What's After Getting Saved?" Ever wonder that? What the heck do you do once you're saved? That's Churchianity's failure in the world...they can reach people for Christ, but after that, what? Oh, but if it's by works, then the Messianic people would be right.


You don't keep any of Christ's commandments to be saved. You keep his commandments because you are saved, because that was the sign that you/me/etc are HIS.

Now, on to Audrey's editorial:
Torah vs. The Flesh | Romans 7

The next section in our series must be in the top ten of passages used to say that Torah is no longer incumbent for a believer's life and daily walk. It also opens up a lovely can of worms on the touchy subject of divorce, so I, the Torah-submissive divorced woman, will attempt to tackle these issues. Try not to fall out of your seats. =) Unlike my other notes, there is just too much here in chapter seven and I won't be able to just pull out a few verses to give you the gist, so this note will be a bit atypical as I go through the entire chapter, verse by verse. Please be studious and read it in it's entirety.

Or are you ignorant, brothers; for I speak to those who know the Law; that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives?

This verse alone poses a problem for those who deny the Torah for their lives. There is also a big clue here that we might typically miss, and that is that this is specifically written to Jews, those who know the Law. This means they know what Sha'ul is talking about in a special way that we probably aren't going to understand outright.

For the married woman was bound by law to the living husband. But if the husband is dead, she is set free from the law of her husband.So then if, while her husband lives, she is married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress by becoming another man's wife.

A lot of people will use this to say that a woman is "bound by law" to her husband forever, however upon closer inspection it is the married woman who is bound by law to her husband. There is a difference. Once divorced, a woman is no longer married, correct? Correct, however that is not what this passage is talking about- it is strictly about a married woman. If a married woman goes to another man, she is an adulteress. If a married woman's husband dies, she is free to go to another man. Again, divorce is not even being discussed here, it's not part of what Sha'ul is getting at, period.

Sidenote: I don't believe in "once saved always saved", nor do I believe in "once married always married"...and it's funny how those two doctrines have striking similarities. Moving along...

So, my brothers, you also have become dead to the law by the body of Messiah so that you should be married to Another, even to Him raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit to God.


Sha'ul now applies a law of Torah to a spiritual law, as he often does. Because we do not know Torah, we tend to miss this teaching method he employs. The law that we are dead to is in fact none other than the law of sin and death from the previous chapter (see my previous note). Remember that Romans is a written letter, without chapter and verse, and the thoughts from chapter to chapter flow freely and lead into one another. Bearing this in mind, we can accurately interpret this passage with other passages, to mean that because of Messiah, there was a death in our "former marriage" and we are now free to "re-marry".

For when we were in the flesh, the passions of sin worked in our members through the law to bring forth fruit to death. But now we having been set free from the law, having died to that in which we were held, so that we serve in newness of spirit and not in oldness of the letter.

Again, an echo from the previous chapter about the law of sin and death that we have been set free from by Messiah's blood. The flesh and the Torah together bring death, for we all know that, "the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can it be" (Romans 8:7).




However, by Messiah's death we are no longer in bondage to the lust of our flesh but rather, empowered to serve in newness of spirit. Spirit cannot properly operate without truth, and the Torah is truth forever (Psalm 119:142).

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Let it not be said! But I did not know sin except through the law. For also I did not know lust except the law said, You shall not lust. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, worked in me all kinds of lust. For apart from law sin was dead. For I was alive without the law once. But when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. And the commandment, which was to life, was found to be death to me. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.

Sha'ul explains that by the Torah comes the knowledge of sin. There are many acts of disobedience we would not think to do on our own, if we had not heard the command not to do it. It is the rebellious nature of man, his sinful nature to do what he's been told not to do, just because he was told not to. This is carnal and works death...is the fault with the Torah or with man?

So indeed the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.

It looks like the fault is with man.

Then has that which is good become death to me? Let it not be! But sin, that it might appear to be sin, working death in me by that which is good; in order that sin might become exceedingly sinful by the commandment. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do, I know not. For what I desire, that I do not do; but what I hate, that I do. If then I do that which I do not desire, I consent to the law that it is good. But now it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing. For to will is present with me, but how to perform that which is good I do not find. For I do not do the good that I desire; but the evil which I do not will, that I do. But if I do what I do not desire, it is no more I working it out, but sin dwelling in me. I find then a law: when I will to do the right, evil is present with me.

The war that is waged is not the Torah vs. unmerited favor/grace, but rather, Torah in his heart and mind vs. the law of sin and death working in his flesh. Sha'ul continues to emphasize his point, gaining momentum and becoming more unmistakable:

For I delight in the Law of God according to the inward man; but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin being in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Yeshua the Messiah our Master! So then with the mind I myself serve the Law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

The only way you can make this chapter say that Torah is abolished is by picking out one or two verses, without the context of the chapter and preceding chapter! The shed blood of Messiah put to death our former husband, the flesh, so that we could be married to Him instead.

I realize that I almost completely avoided the choppy waters of the divorce issue, albeit unintentionally since it was never an issue in this chapter, however, if you would like my position on it, I have a 20 page study on it that I am in the process of completing very soon, with the recommendation and collaboration of my dad.
