This is a total sham: Conni Durbin lost re-election to the Ennis ISD school board on May 8. A few weeks later, Pete Bibby resigned his board seat, leaving a vacancy. Now the Ennis ISD took their ousted school board trustee that the voters did not want and re-installed her.
This is a total outrage.
That's like appointing Judge Greg Wilhelm to the soon-to-be-vacant 378th District Court seat after voters ousted him in the March 2 GOP primary for his Court at Law No. 1 bench seat. I like Greg Wilhelm, voted for him more than once, but this is insane.
Who do I have to sleep with around this county to get ths treatment Connie Durbin received?

WISDBlog.com | Waxahachie Cheerleader Arrested for Shoplifting
Some of my readers drew out my hypocrisy since if this was a story about a Waxahachie High School football player, I would have run with it. Well, I just found out about allegations a WHS cheerleader was arrested for shoplifting in February at the Parks Mall --- see details in the comments section by clicking here: eco2.wordpress.com/2010/04/17/waxahachies-x6-bar-posts-pic-of-me-on-wall-w-do-not-serve/#comment-31524 --- so I told my readers that if someone hunts down the incident/arrest report, I'll publish it.
I've already done the legwork on this, so all that is needed is for someone to submit this to Arlington PD:
Yes...I am an expert at open records requests...what can I say...

UPDATED: Waxahachie ISD Repeals 'Dress Menu' While Proponents Absent
UPDATED: No surprise here, but the Waxahachie school board repealed the dress menu that WISD school board trustees enacted on a 4-3 vote in February. I guess the only way to get the establishment/WISD administration stance enacted is to make sure that contrarian voters Mark Price and Lorinda Yates are out of town...because they were out of town for this vote last night...
Big school board meeting tonight, and conveniently, trustees Mark Price and Lorinda Yates are out of town. They were two votes (along with the now-retired Jim Phillipps and trustee Evelyn Coleman) that voted for a dress menu in WISD that stipulated solid-color only clothing, no baggy pants, no suicide bombers, etc.
Well, so ironically convenient, but the WISD will take up this issue again tonight. The dress menu passed on a 4-3 vote in February, but with Yates and Price out of town, trustee Dr. Joe Langely and trustee Floyd Bates are looking to overturn that decision.
Last year's dress code was a bit more relaxed, but now, tonight...we could see some under-the-radar fireworks...and an even bigger finale once the truth about how the WISD administration has pulled a fast one when no one was looking --- or in town.

Ennis | School Board Trustee Pete Bibby Resigns
Pete Bibby resigned from the Ennis ISD school board recently, so I'm going to ask my Ennis readers what is circulating on the street. I know that Bibby's colleague, Conni Durbin, recently lost re-election on May 8, and there are numerous frictions in the Ennis school district...so, you can probably guess that if the reason is "wants to spend more time with family" or "personal reasons," then there's a good chance a scandal might be under the radar. Or, perhaps he moved out of the district, or plans to...
Watch Durbin get appointed to the school board now...God forbid if this happens...
Here's the Ennis ISD press release -- which contained no mention of Bibby's reasons for resigning (red flag, red flag, red flag):
Pete W. Bibby Resigns from School Board
Pete W. Bibby, a member of the EISD Board of Trustees since May 1997, submitted his resignation following the Board's meeting on Tuesday night.
His resignation is effective immediately.
“It is with a high degree of sadness that we announce the resignation of Pete Bibby, who has served with distinction on the Ennis ISD Board of Trustees for the past 13 years," said Dr. Barbara Qualls, EISD superintendent.
“However, it is also with a high degree of gratitude that we thank him for selflessly contributing his valuable time and for his tireless and dedicated support of Ennis ISD and its students, teachers, staff and community patrons," she added.
“Although at some point his Board seat will be filled again, we can never fully replace the unique perspective and common sense that Pete always brought to the Ennis ISD Board of Trustees," Dr. Qualls concluded.
Mr. Bibby did not provide specific reasons for his decision to resign aside from the following comments below:
“After much contemplation, I have decided that the time is right for me to move on and to support the Board as it goes forward with its important work, well in advance of the next school year,” he stated.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure on the Ennis ISD Board of Trustees, and I thank the community members who have allowed me this privilege to serve as an advocate on behalf of the students, teachers and staff of this outstanding school district," Mr. Bibby added.
“I am very proud of the accomplishments of Ennis ISD over the past 13 years and also grateful to have played my part, however small, in supporting those accomplishments," he concluded. "Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't thank my fellow Board members for their fellowship and their wisdom over the past 13 years. Please be assured that my support of Ennis ISD will continue and will be unwavering.”
Mr. Bibby was first elected to the Board in May 1997 and served as Board vice president from 2001-2003 before being elected Board president and serving in that capacity from 2003-2008. His unexpired term runs through May 2012.
During his tenure, Ennis ISD passed bond initiatives that resulted in several new campuses, including Crockett Early Childhood Center, the Sixth Grade Center (now Miller Intermediate), Ennis Junior High School, and Carver Early Childhood Center, as well as an expansion of Ennis High School, renovation of Travis Elementary School, and construction of Lion Memorial Stadium.
The final new campus from the May 2008 bond program, Lummus Intermediate School, is set to open this fall.
Mr. Bibby also participated in three superintendent searches during his tenure that resulted in the hirings of Mike Harper, Dr. Eddie Dunn, and Dr. Qualls.
