Joe Barton | 'Shakedown' Comments Stir Outrage

The Democrats should shut the hell up. A $20 million fund for claims on Gulf Coast damages is in fact a "shakedown" fund. I actually agree with Congressman Joe Barton on this. I don't agree with his limp-wristed apology in the face of all this hysterical reaction...

  1. BP has been killing Texans for years, now they're poisoning the gulf and ruining countless more lives. We damn well better shake them down.

Barton once said that CO2 can't be a pollutant because it's in Coke. That's the numbnuts you morons elected.

  3. Well, I'm glad someone had the gall to say it.
OBAMA and his thugs in Washington need to have the same amount of scrutiny and pessimism that BP is getting.
No, I don't think that BP should be let off the hook, but I do think that giving this current tyrannical regime a check for $20 bill, yes it's "B" for billions, is like giving Viagra to a convicted sex offender.
Barton had the courage to say out LOUD what many in this country are thinking. The guy should get an award for saying it and he apologized to save his own political neck.
Too bad, he'd have gotten more respect from the voters if he'd stuck by his guns. Now he just looks like another 2-bit politician that gives DC another in a long line of black eyes.
I hope that more folks in this country notice that Obama ad his flunkies have done nothing to help clean up this spill.
Obama called in lawyers galore and he has promised to "kick ass". What the hell does that mean?
Maybe those lawyers are all x-oil field-deep sea crisis management engineers.
Yeah that's it, even Superman had a day job.
    But I digress...
Where am I going with this you ask?...
I wonder where the call among the congressmen and women in both parties is for obama's head. Barton is 1 in 535 members of congress, but obama is supposed to be the top dog.
The buck stops at his desk...
So where's the outrage and public calls for ol-bamanater to step down?
    HINT---
The same place the $20billion is going to be found when folks come looking for their cut of the BP pie...
    Nowhere to be found.

  4. Check it...
Read it, watch it on youtube, but make sure that you get the full context of his *apology*
Barton was apologizing for the governmental "shakedown" by the obamanater and his thugs.
For my part he could also have apologized for the show trial in congress as well, where sanctimonious congressmen asked irrelevant and stupid questions that they (congressmen) knew the CEO of BP couldn't possibly answer.

  5. BP dumps millions of gallons of oil in the gulf and all y'all can do is keep crying about Obama.

I know how badly y'all hate that a black man is in charge, but you're going to have to put the Klan hoods down and come into this century.

When Bush was in charge y'all didn't want politicians interfering in business. Now y'all blame Obama because he hasn't done it enough? Your cognitive dissonance (look it up) is pathetic.

  7. chicken little, babe
You need to drop the racism ploy. It doesn't work, much less fly anymore. It's very telling about you that you accuse people whose color you can't see on a blog of only having a problem with this person 'cause of his skin color.
YOUR problem is OBVIOUSLY with skin color, not ours. Get your mind out of the '60's whether it's the 1860's or the 1960's. The race question has been settled.
It's history, and it no longer has any validity in our society today.
LET IT GO!!! you'll be much happier for it.
Why are YOU noticing his skin color?...
Remember, the only x-clan member still in congress is a DEMOCRAT!!!
Do you mind that one, are you outraged, are you?
It's seems obvious to me that you don't like the KKK.
Where's your outrage on that one, I can't hear it. This person in the Senate can effect policy that effects your life and he's an x-klanner and his name is ROBERT BIRD of West Virginia. We on this blog are just average citizens in this great country that are discussing our opinions and exchanging info.
While I don't always agree with these folks on this blog, I have never read ar heard ANY racism...
    UNTIL YOU!!!
Are you a political party snob?...
Do you drink the kool-aid of your leaders or do you think for yourself?
I've not seen ONE MENTION OF HIS SKIN COLOR anywhere in any discussion on this blog.
    CONGRATULATIONS, YOU'RE THE FIRST!!!
Unless you're saying that it's racist to criticize him BECAUSE HE'S BLACK?
Are you saying that he's above criticism just BECAUSE HE'S BLACK?
Are you saying that criticism is unfair just BECAUSE HE'S BLACK?
NO, *YOU* ARE OBVIOUSLY THE RACIST HERE, BECAUSE *ALL* YOU CAN SEE HERE IS SKIN COLOR.

This clown in the white house is the top dog and responsible for things like this. The feds ARE responsible for the waters that this accident happened in. I will not cut him any slack or any gov't crony that believes that...
gov't IS ALWAYS THE ANSWER FOR EVERY SOCIAL ILL. Then they (the gov't) screw it up to the Nth degree and want to blame someone else.
I've said that BP is to blame, but for crying out loud stop the gusher first, and help the folks that have been hurt by this, and for gods sake don't shut down drilling in the gulf because of 1 accident. Did you know that obama got huge money from BP in the election?

WE NEED LEADERSHIP!!!...not the pointing of bony fingers of blame by folks that are just as culpable as BP.
It seems to me that their (the gov't) world view has just been shot to hell.
No obama can't fix it, but he can DAMN sure send some DC lawyers to sue and keep their foot on BP's neck. How's obama saying "I'll kick ass" gonna remove one ounce of oil from the gulf?

This guys a joke and a buffoon (OBAMA), and he sets the bar of conduct, policy and responsibility for all of the feds.
If your smarter than me, then surely you can see thru your racism to see this.

  9. oh! and "S-T-Y" {{lol}}

I looked it up for the rest of the lurkers:

    "cognitive dissonance":
Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding two contradictory ideas simultaneously.
    -----------

    Wrong. ;-)

BP dumps millions of gallons of oil, and all we can do is point out everyone *except* Obama is ready willing and able to *respond* to FIX it.

"When Bush was in charge y’all didn’t want politicians interfering in business."
We STILL don't want politicians interfering in *business*-- we want them to get OUT of the WAY so business can do its job; in this case, helping to clean up a nasty disaster.

    where's the dissonance?

apparently YOU need a bit more study in logic, or the issues.

    or both.

  10. Amy, babe...
Cognitive dissonance must be effecting my thoughts.
    Thanks for pointing it out...
    His name is B-Y-R-D but...
oh hell I forget what I was going to say now, but that's senility not...
    that other thing^ ;.)
